What is Pentavitin?
Pentavitin, also known as a carbohydrate isomer, maintains the hydration of the stratum corneum by regulating the hydration of keratinocytes and the intercellular lipid barrier structure through a specific binding mechanism. The composition of the carbohydrate isomer is very similar to the natural carbohydrate complexes in the stratum corneum, making it very skin-friendly and capable of binding tightly to keratin like a magnet, hence its common name.
Pentavitin, derived from edible corn sugar (plant-based D-glucose), is a carbohydrate complex with a similar structure to the carbohydrate complex (NMF) found in the stratum corneum of human skin. It binds to the ε-amino group of lysine in keratin. This unique binding mechanism prevents it from being washed away as a moisturizing active ingredient, continuously improving skin hydration until the keratinocytes naturally age and shed.
