CAS 117-39-5 Quercetin 95% Powder
What is quercetin?
Quercetin is a dietary flavonoid polyphenol compound widely found in plant pigments. It has attracted significant attention due to its remarkable biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging effects. This compound has a melting point of 314°C and is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and methanol but insoluble in water. In alkaline aqueous solutions, it appears yellow and has a bitter taste.
Quercetin exhibits excellent pharmacological properties, including expectorant, cough suppressant, antiasthmatic, antihypertensive, and cardiovascular benefits, such as enhancing capillary resistance, lowering blood lipids, and dilating coronary arteries. Clinically, it is used to treat chronic bronchitis and serves as an adjunct therapy for coronary heart disease and hypertension.
Currently, the primary methods for quercetin production include extraction and separation, acid hydrolysis, and enzymatic conversion, with enzymatic conversion being the most practical approach.
What are the benefits?
Antioxidant Effects
Quercetin's antioxidant capacity is 50 times that of vitamin E and 20 times that of vitamin C.
It eliminates free radicals through three mechanisms:
● Directly neutralizing free radicals.
● Facilitating the action of free radical-scavenging enzymes.
● Inhibiting the production of free radicals.
This ability to eliminate reactive oxygen species (ROS) also helps reduce inflammatory responses.
Cardiovascular Protective Effects
● Dilates blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.
● Prevents and treats coronary heart disease, reducing the incidence and mortality of myocardial infarction.
● Alleviates cardiac hypertrophy.
● Inhibits vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and hypertrophy.
● Prevents thrombosis formation.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects
● Inhibits lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory responses.
Antibacterial Effects
● Broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, useful for preventing and treating bacterial infections.
Other Effects
● Neuroprotection
● Potential Blood Glucose-Lowering Effects
Application direction
The antioxidant capacity of quercetin is 50 times that of vitamin E and 20 times that of vitamin C. Therefore, it is widely used in the field of health food
