CAS 115939-25-8 Salvianolic Acid B Powder Factory Supply
What is Black Carrot Powder?
Salvianolic acid B is the core active ingredient derived from the rhizome of Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza). It is formed by the condensation of three molecules of danshensu and one molecule of caffeic acid and is one of the most extensively studied components of the salvianolic acid class.
Research has confirmed that salvianolic acid B has multiple pharmacological actions:
1. It has significant antioxidant activity, effectively scavenging oxygen free radicals, inhibiting lipid peroxidation, and enhancing superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, mitigating oxygen free radical damage to the myocardium and alleviating tissue damage caused by ischemia-reperfusion.
2. It regulates intracellular calcium homeostasis, reducing calcium-magnesium ATPase activity under conditions of myocardial ischemia and alleviating calcium overload.
3. It promotes nitric oxide (NO) synthesis, scavenging intracellular reactive oxygen species, and inhibiting endothelial damage.
4. It has anti-inflammatory properties, reducing the expression of endothelial cell adhesion factors, thereby modulating the inflammatory response.
What are the benefits?
I. Potent Antioxidant Activity
Salvianolic acid B is one of the most potent natural antioxidants known. In vitro and in vivo experiments have demonstrated that it significantly outperforms common antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E in scavenging oxygen free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation. It also effectively inhibits platelet aggregation and thrombosis, and prolongs survival in hypoxic environments.
II. Cardioprotective Effects
Alleviating Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury
Salvianolic acid B significantly reduces the severity of myocardial ischemia in experimental animals, shrinks the size of infarcts, and reduces the leakage of enzymes such as lactate dehydrogenase. It also regulates malondialdehyde levels and superoxide dismutase activity, effectively counteracting oxygen free radical damage to cardiomyocytes.
Inducing Cardiac Microvascular Endothelial Protection
By activating key factors such as protein kinase C and heat shock protein 70, salvianolic acid B pretreatment enhances cellular tolerance to hypoxia/reoxygenation injury, resulting in a sustained protective effect similar to ischemic preconditioning.
Preventing and Treating Atherosclerosis
This ingredient effectively inhibits copper-induced oxidative modification of low-density lipoproteins. Its mechanism involves free radical scavenging and metal ion chelation, thereby slowing the progression of atherosclerosis.
III. Neuroprotective Function
Improving Cerebral Ischemic Damage
Salvianolic acid B has excellent blood-brain barrier penetration, increasing cerebral blood flow, inhibiting platelet aggregation and calcium overload, and exerting its anti-ischemic effects through multiple pathways, including promoting cerebral angiogenesis.
Enhancing Learning and Memory
Experiments have shown that salvianolic acid B can significantly alleviate behavioral impairment and memory impairment caused by cerebral ischemia. Its mechanism of action is closely related to its ability to combat oxidative stress.
IV. Anti-Liver Fibrosis
By inhibiting transforming growth factor-β1 signaling and its receptor expression, salvianolic acid B effectively prevents the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells and reduces collagen deposition in the liver. Clinical studies have confirmed that its magnesium salt formulation improves liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B.
Anti-Aging Potential
Salvianolic acid B not only protects nerve cells through antioxidant mechanisms but also reduces nitric oxide release, mitigates the neurotoxicity of beta-amyloid protein, and exerts anti-aging effects by regulating the secretion of immune factors.
Extraction Process
Danshen herbs are ground and placed in an extraction tank. Soak overnight in 8-fold 0.01 mol/L hydrochloric acid, then percolated with 14-fold water. The percolated solution is purified by eluting with an AB-8 macroporous resin column. Unabsorbed impurities are first removed with 0.01 mol/L hydrochloric acid, followed by elution with 25% ethanol to remove highly polar impurities. Finally, the 40% ethanol eluate is concentrated under reduced pressure to recover the ethanol, and then freeze-dried to obtain total phenolic acids with a purity exceeding 80%.
